IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD HISTORY
1982 Springfield Elementary Honor Choir
Springfield Elementary Honor Choir was the featured elementary school choir in 1982 at the Nebraska Music Educators Conference-Clinic. The 60 member choir performed on Saturday November 20, 1982 at Elkhorn High School. The choir performed “I Just Sing”, Kum Ba Yah”, and selections from “The Muppet Movie”, “Fly High”, and “Rhythm of Life”. Solos were sung by David Schram, Chris Dill, and Laura Hofeldt. Guitarist, Bethany Mills, and percussionist, Roy Hudson, accompanied on selections during the performance. The choir was led by vocal music teacher, Carolyn Leigh. She was the secretary-treasurer of the Nebraska Music Educators.
MAIN STREET ROAD WORK
Road improvements on Main Street from L A Bates to 10th Avenue are currently underway. Residents should expect ongoing Main Street closures in various forms over the next several weeks. Depending on the need of construction, road access may be limited to only one lane or both lanes closed at times. Please be prepared to use an alternate route at any point.
Please be patient during this construction phase to improve Springfield’s Main Street.
PLATTEVIEW ROAD IMPROVEMENT
Platteview Road from 2nd Street to 5th Avenue will begin this Fall with new asphalt overlayment. Please be patient during the road construction work and the associated lane impactment.
