Welcome Back!
Hey Springfield! We’re in a season of abundance — harvest is in full swing, and you can practically smell fall in the air (and maybe a little dust too — ACHOO!).
There’s lots happening around town and in our schools as we move deeper into October. Between fall festivals, conference tournaments, and parent-teacher conferences, it’s a busy and exciting time for families and students alike.
Take a moment to enjoy the crisp mornings, colorful leaves, and that feeling of community that makes Springfield so special this time of year.

It Happened in Springfield
The winner of the 1986 contest to guess the “Guess My Weight and Take Me Home Pumpkin” was Springfield Elementary third grade student, Jenny Meister. The contest was held by the Omaha K-Mart store on 120th & West Center Rd. Jenny’s guess of 200-lbs. was placed in a hat with other close guesses and she was the lucky winner. It took three men to place the 204-lb. pumpkin in the back of the Meister’s pickup truck. Arriving home with the pumpkin, it was rolled out of the truck on a ramp. After carving the 84-inch girth, Jenny and her sister Beth, could climb in and out of the very large pumpkin.

Fit Tip of the Week - Get rooted in the season. Eat fresh.
seasonal produce that fuels performance, supports recovery, and keeps you feeling your best as the weather shifts. God’s design provides exactly what our bodies need — right on time, every season.
Apples & Pears → October’s fruits of the month.
They help stabilize blood sugar, support heart and brain health, and promote glowing skin thanks to soluble fiber (pectin).
Grapes → Tiny antioxidant powerhouses.
Packed with polyphenols and resveratrol, they support heart health, circulation, and cognitive function — perfect for active recovery.
Sweet Potatoes & Squash → Your grounding carbs.
Loaded with beta-carotene, potassium, and resistant starch, they balance hormones, sustain energy, and nourish gut health while supporting vision and immunity.
Beets → Circulation and endurance fuel.
Rich in nitrates and folate, they enhance blood flow, boost stamina, and help your body recover faster.
Roasted Autumn Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 medium sweet potato, cubed
- 1 cup cubed butternut squash
- 1 medium beet, peeled and diced
- 1 apple, sliced
- 2 cups baby greens (spinach or arugula)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Baja Gold sea salt + cracked pepper
- Optional: sprinkle of cinnamon + drizzle of tahini
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Toss sweet potato, squash, and beet with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Roast 25–30 minutes until tender.
- Add apple slices for the final 5 minutes of roasting.
- Serve over greens, drizzle with tahini, and sprinkle cinnamon if desired.
This bowl hits the perfect balance of complex carbs, fiber, antioxidants, and minerals — everything your body needs to recover, perform, and feel grounded.
This is what becoming the Ultimate Human is all about — using what the Good Lord and nature give us to optimize performance, resilience, and recovery

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.

Confucius states, “Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbors.” — Analects
Seneca (Roman philosopher, writer, and statesman who lived from around 4 BCE to 65 CE). said all art imitates nature—and maybe that’s why being outdoors moves us so deeply. The body, the landscape, the rhythm of a good ride—they’re all part of the same masterpiece.
