Welcome Back Springfield!
HEY SPRINGFIELD, You’ve see how 96,000 people can pack Memorial Stadium. Is it just for football? Or is it because we Nebraskans know how to show up with passion for our community?
Now it’s our turn right here at home. Imagine Springfield filled with that same energy — neighbors supporting neighbors, cheering on local businesses, and keeping our town strong. Let’s do it:
It’s Homecoming week, and that means tonight is parade night! The Homecoming parade will head down Main Street starting at 7:00 p.m.
Bring the whole family — especially the kids — and help keep the tradition alive for the next generation. Let’s line the streets, cheer on our students, and celebrate our community together
Buy out every stained-glass window at The Robin’s Nest
Bring local art home and keep creativity thriving.
Eat the beef at The Blind Pig
Gather your friends, grab a plate, and support local flavor.
Go shop at the ReMain store.
Go Say Hi to the artist at Springfiedl Art.
Show up and buy out the FINAL Farmers Market – this Sunday, the LAST Sunday of the month
Fresh food, community spirit, and one more chance to come together before the season ends. It's on the last Sunday of Sept 2025! L
If Husker fans can fill a stadium, Springfield can fill its Library, shops, and market. Passion isn’t just for football — it’s for our hometown.
See you there, neighbors!
Onto Springfield community news.

Still No News on Pickleball…
About the Springfield Community Building:
The Springfield Community Building, located at 170 North 3rd Street, was constructed between 1938 and 1940 as part of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. This historic building has long been a hub for community events, hosting everything from town meetings to local celebrations. Its central location on Main Street makes it a perfect spot for the upcoming pickleball courts.

Reminder - there has been congestion in the loop at drop-off and pick-up due to cars parking. Please remember: the loop is for moving traffic only, not parking.
Pull forward to the farthest open spot, drop off/pick up on the curb side, then carefully re-enter the left lane to exit.
Do not use the staff parking lot by the playground — it is not a safe location.
Grades 3–6: You may park along Richland Drive; students can use the crossing guard and sidewalk. Please do not have them walk through the staff lot.
Preschool: Parents must walk children to and from the door. Please park in designated spots or the far lane to help reduce congestion.

We’ll have a silent auction and need community support. If your business would like to donate an item, basket, or sponsor part of the event, please reach out (I’m happy to come pick it up if needed).
Your generosity helps us support the amazing students and staff at Westmont Elementary. Thank you!

Using AI Wisely at PHS
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming education, and at PHS we believe it is important to teach our students how to use AI responsibly. While AI can be a powerful tool to support learning, it can also be misused in ways that compromise academic integrity.
To help guide our students, the attached graphic will be posted in every classroom. It outlines examples of safe, cautious, and prohibited uses of AI. Our goal is for students to view AI as a tool for brainstorming, organizing, and improving their work—while also understanding that their final work must reflect their own knowledge, thoughts, and effort.
As we move forward, we will continue to share updates and resources with you. Together, we can help students learn how to use AI wisely—both in school and at home.

It Happen in Springfield
It Happen in Springfield
In 1984, M.R. Scholting had dedicated fifty years of service to Sarpy County through his business, Scholting Transfer, one of the county's oldest transfer companies. He employed three steady drivers, including his son Bob, and would bring on additional help during busy seasons. Scholting's first trucks were equipped with single rear wheels, allowing for the transportation of
225 bushels of grain or corn at a time. After acquiring trucks with dual wheels, their hauling capacity increased to 800 bushels per truck. By 1984, Scholting Transfer had successfully transported millions of bushels of grain and corn from Sarpy County. In addition to agricultural products, they also transported cattle using double-deck cattle trucks, serving customers throughout the Midwest region.

Insurance Tip– Good coverage matters!
Farmers offers strong protection and competitive prices, giving you peace of mind when it counts most. Having the right coverage means you’re prepared for the unexpected, without breaking the bank.

Fit Tip of the Week - use your feet!
Walking is one of the easiest ways to stay active—and one of the best ways to enjoy what the Good Lord gave us: NATURE and COMMUNITY. Take a stroll down Main Street, walk to the library, swing by the farmers market, or loop around the park. Every step strengthens your body, clears your mind, and connects you to the place we all call home—Springfield. So lace up, grab a friend, and get those steps in—you’ll feel better and support your community along the way!

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.

As Helen Keller once said: Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
Community is one of those words that carries a lot of weight. At its core, it means more than just living near one another — it’s about sharing, supporting, and showing up. Communities change with time, just like words do. What once meant a gathering around a fire now might mean a group online, a neighborhood helping one another, or even families biking together to reach a common goal.
