Still No News on Pickleball…
About the Springfield Community Building:
The Springfield Community Building, located at 170 North 3rd Street, was constructed between 1938 and 1940 as part of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. This historic building has long been a hub for community events, hosting everything from town meetings to local celebrations. Its central location on Main Street makes it a perfect spot for the upcoming pickleball courts.

Little note from MRS. BECK
Hello! My name is Elysia Beck and I am the Westmont PTO president. We are hosting our annual Fall Harvest Festival on Thursday, October 23rd from 6-8. This event is our only fundraiser for the entire year. At the event we host a silent auction and this is where I need your help. If you are a business, big or small and would love to donate an item or basket, or sponsor something at the event, please reach out. I can also come to you if that is easier. We rely on the community and the families to help us support the amazing students and staff at Westmont Elementary! Thank you for all your support!

It Happen in Springfield
A top priority for Nebraska settlers was the education of their children. Country schools were
built in the rural areas of Sarpy County as settlers came to the region. Most times the schools
also served as venues for community gatherings such as weddings, funeral and social gatherings.
In 1882, Sarpy County recorded a total enrollment of 1,656 students, comprising 911 boys and
745 girls in all county’s town and country schools. The construction of three schools was
completed using stone, while two were built from brick, and thirty were frame structures. The
Nebraska State School Superintendent provided guidelines for school building plans in the rural
regions of the state.
The majority of country schools in the Springfield area were established between 1860 and 1870.
Below is a list of country schools near the Springfield area along with the school district number,
name of the school and approximate location.

#20 Ringo, 120 St. ¾ mile south of Springfield’s Main Street. In 1917, Ringo School
consolidated with Springfield’s town school. Students were bused to Springfield.

Fit Tip of the Week - Adventure Ride!
Fall is the perfect season to get outside and move! Instead of skipping workouts as the days get cooler, hop on your e-bike for a ride in the crisp autumn air. Pair your activity with lighter fall soups loaded with vegetables and lean protein to fuel your body. Staying consistent with healthy food and fun movement keeps your energy high all season long!

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
