A dedicated team of Springfield Jaycee members dyed 70 dozen eggs for the 1987 annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event was headed by co-chairs, Cindy Camden and Pat Carl, along with assistant co-chairs, Pam Prauner and Bernadette Negley. At the Easter egg hunt all registrants received a balloon and a free pass to Putt Putt Golf. Besides the dyed eggs, the Jaycees also provided five-hundred prize filled plastic eggs for the hunt. Various eggs contained special prizes. Springfield Jaycees expressed gratitude for all the donations and support after this 1987 community event.

SPRINGFIELD AREA MASTER GARDENERS NEWS

Flower of the week is the Echinacea or otherwise known as the cone flower. It is from the daisy family and it can be one of the most attractive blooms in your garden. It can grow 2 to 4 ft tall. Echinaceas come in a rainbow of colors. It can be an edible plant and can be used in teas, as well. Just a warning: University of Nebraska states do not eat any plant unless identified correctly.
