mr
Mr. & Mrs.Wilbur Samuelson, 1975 Nutrition Program for the Elderly Springfield site managers

Senior Bus Trip to Nebraska City
In 1975 the Nutrition Program for the Elderly began in Springfield at the American Legion Hall on April 1st. The program gave area seniors a chance to get together to socialize and enjoy lunch together three days each week. The Eastern Nebraska Human Services Agency hired Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Samuelson as site managers to serve food and coordinate activities. Springfield residents aged 60 and older were eligible to participate. An activity committee planned programs and events. The Nutrition Program’s activities included bus trips, movies, card games, bingo, singing, and dancing. For many years Springfield seniors enjoyed memorable lunches, outings, celebrations, and fun events.
SARPY COUNTY HELP LINE
The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office along with Sarpy County Human Services has established a help line for the citizens of Sarpy County during the COVID-19 pandemic event. M.U.D. & OPPD customers can apply for
new state rental and utility assistance program
Renters and landlords who are struggling financially because of COVID-19 can now apply for assistance with rent and utilities under the state’s new Emergency Rental Assistance Program. The program, which recently launched, is funded through the U.S. Treasury as part of a federal coronavirus relief package.
Omaha Public Power District and Metropolitan Utilities District want to encourage customers who qualify for the program to apply. Customers within Douglas County, the City of Omaha, Lancaster County and the City of Lincoln do not qualify for the state’s program because those areas are receiving federal funds directly. They will operate rental and utility assistance programs separately from the State.
To learn more about the state’s program, customers should visit coronavirus.nebraska.gov. They can also call 1-833-500-8810 to reach the state’s contact center for more information, including eligibility guidelines, documentation requirements, and additional utility assistance programs.
To apply, visit: https://mcrcares.servicenowservices.com/nebraska_rental_assistance
Customers may reach utilities directly to find out what other financial help may be available:
- For information on M.U.D.’s assistance program, customers may visit mudomaha.com/covid19relief or call 402-554-6666 in the Omaha area, or toll-free outside of the area at 1-800-732-5864.
- OPPD customers may visit oppd.com/EAP for more information. Those within the Omaha area can also call 402-536-4131 or 1-800-536-4131 toll-free, outside of the Omaha calling area.
