Covid Precautions

SARPY COUNTY HELP LINE

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office along with Sarpy County Human Services has established a help line for the citizens of Sarpy County during the COVID-19 pandemic event. Starting today, people who are sick, elderly, or caretakers of this demographic in Sarpy County may call the Sarpy County Sheriff Helpline at 402-593-1593 for needs such as picking up prescriptions, groceries, or other necessities. A uniformed Sarpy County Sheriff's Deputy will pick up and deliver these items in a marked police cruiser. This helpline may also be utilized by the general public to make non-emergency police reports via telephone that do not require a police officer present in their home.

The following providers are participating in this program:

Walmart in Papillion
Target in Papillion (Groceries Only)
Bakers at 36th St & Twin Creek Dr
Bakers at 801 Galvin Rd (Pharmacy Only)
Springfield Drug (Pharmacy Only)

Please check the Sheriff's Office website and Facebook Page for any new updates to this program.

It Happened in Springfield History

Bank Bldg

Bank Monitor building Urban Park

In 1971, the brick building standing on the northeast corner of 2nd & Main Street was demolished. The Sarpy County Bank building was built in 1884 from bricks forged from a hallow just to the south of town. Soon the Springfield Monitor newspaper office moved into the building. On the second floor of the building the bank cashier’s family lived in an apartment.  Over the years the Sarpy County Bank and Springfield Monitor building housed apartments and many businesses including: the American State Bank, a doctor’s office, dentist, telephone office, Timberlake’s Boarding House, the Library, beauty shop, and Kozy Korner Kafe. At the time of the razing of the building, 87 year old Howard Freeman, son of the Sarpy County Bank cashier, recalled many fans of Springfield’s baseball team gathering on the corner’s stone steps hashing over Saturday night’s game.  This corner lot is now Springfield’s Urban Park.
