March 20th marks the first official day of Spring, and Springfield will be celebrating with a Spring Fling downtown.

Sprngfield Elementary News Conferences and Conference Meals The staff would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the parents who attended conferences and supported the Book Fair. Your involvement and encouragement mean so much to us and truly make a difference in our school community. Springfield History
On March 17, 1992, the Springfield City Council recognized four individuals for their contributions to the globe lights recently installed at the corner of 1st and Main Street, adjacent to the Community Building. The city council expressed gratitude to Sandie Sayers (Shotski) and her husband Stoney, owners of Springfield Café, as well as Don and Nancy Smith, owners of Forever Yours Floral. Don Smith handled the essential wiring for the project, while the donors also provided time, supplies, and materials.

Ever skip a workout and tell yourself you just “weren’t motivated”? It’s usually not laziness.
Your brain has two systems at work. The planning side knows the workout is good for you. But the emotional side sees effort, soreness, and discomfort… and tries to steer you toward the couch instead. Your brain isn’t trying to ruin your progress — it’s trying to avoid stress.
That’s why waiting for motivation doesn’t work.
Action has to come first. Here’s a simple trick:
Don’t commit to the whole workout. Commit to 5 minutes.
Just warm up. Start moving. Most of the time, once you begin, your brain settles down and you keep going. Starting removes the “threat.”
Fitness isn’t about loving every workout.
It’s about showing up anyway. Consistency wins!

Did you know?
The church fish fry is actually a relatively recent tradition. While Catholics have abstained from meat on Fridays for centuries, parish fish fries in the United States became popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s as Irish, German, and Polish immigrants built strong parish communities. Churches began serving simple fish meals during Lent so families could keep the fast and still gather together. By the 1940s and 1950s, the Friday fish fry had grown into both a fundraiser and a social event — and even after fasting rules changed, the tradition remained because it had become about fellowship as much as food. Break bread with the community.
