WELCOME BACK!

Hey Springfield! It’s the first week of January, and today you can register your student for Driver Education with ESU #3 at Platteview High School.

Who is ESU?
In 1965, the Nebraska Unicameral established 19 Educational Service Units (ESUs) to better meet the educational needs of students across the state.

ESU #3 serves 19 K–12 school districts, representing more than 57,200 students in Cass, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington counties. Our services are designed to meet the needs of member districts through quality, cost-effective, cooperative programs.

Driver Education is one of those services.
Platteview High School is one of the high schools ESU #3 proudly serves.

Register here.

Also, keep an eye out — exciting news is coming soon about bike trails and Buffalo Park!

ReMain

I tried a new recipe using ReMain’s honey — just drizzle honey on carrots and bake. Simple, real food that’s good for the body and the soul.

There’s so much to see at ReMain, but I’ll admit I make a beeline for the honey. It makes the perfect gift for anyone with a sweet tooth — local, simple, and delicious. A small jar of something sweet is always a thoughtful way to spread a little joy.

ReMain also offers a great mix of antiques, arts, and crafts, making every visit a little adventure.

It's Springfield History

The above photo of the fourth-grade Discovery students in 2001 was included in the history of the
rural schools booklet.

In 2001, fourth-grade Discovery students at Springfield Elementary embarked on a project to explore the
origins of their school district. They invited long-time Springfield resident Glenn Adair to share how
Sarpy County School District 46 was established. Following Mr. Adair's discussion, the students became
curious about the various nearby country schools. To preserve the stories of these rural institutions, the
Discovery students began developing a questionnaire aimed at interviewing former teachers and students
from those schools. After gathering the information, the students crafted narratives for each of the rural
schools within District 46 into a booklet. The students were directed by teacher, Mrs. Kitty Kentsmith.
Contributors to the project included: Mr. Glenn Adair, Mr. & Mrs Henry Gottsch, Mrs. Orville Nielsen,
Mrs. Margaret Oliver, Mr. Ray Mann, Mrs. Evelyn Carter, Mr. David Keefer, Mr. Harold Keefer, Mrs.
Darlene Adair, Mrs. Betty Scholting, Mrs. Luella Porter, Mr. Gary Iske, Mrs. Marie Karnick, Mrs. Verda
Liddick, Mr. Keller, Mrs. Schneekloth, Mrs. JoAnn Ostransky, Mrs. Joyce Neitzel, Mrs. Bonnie Miller,
Mrs. Caroline Wiese, Mr. Mike Krambeck, Mr. & Mrs. Dale Taylor, Mr. Mike Dill.

Insurance Tip–

A recent survey showed that 92% of Americans who switched auto insurance providers saved money.1 Yet most drivers continue to overpay by hundreds each year simply by staying with the same carrier. Are you among the millions of drivers paying too much for car insurance? Call and get a non hassle quote. May save you some cash. Its an opportunity to compare rates.

Fit Tip of the Week - How’s your diet going?

I’ve been reading a book called Fit for Life. It’s not about dieting — because what you eat is your diet. The focus is on real food and keeping insulin levels low. When insulin stays high, the body struggles to clear toxins, and that can make it easier to hold on to fat.

Small choices, repeated daily, make the biggest difference.
Feed your body real food, and let it do what it was designed to do.

When motivation is low, don’t argue with yourself—preview the outcome. Feel the post-workout pride. See yourself getting stronger. Let your future self talk you into doing the work today.

New year. Same truth. Train like the result matters—because it does.

Did you know?
The word “January” comes from Janus, the Roman god of doors and beginnings — a fitting reminder that today is a new door waiting to open.

Take it as your cue: every step, every choice, every workout is a key. Open the door to a stronger, healthier you — today, not tomorrow.
