Welcome Back!
Happy 4th of July, Springfield!
We’re officially at the halfway point of the year—July 2 marks Day 183, with 182 days behind us and 182 days ahead in 2025! It’s a perfect time to pause, reflect, and look forward.
As we gear up for Independence Day, let’s take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy and the amazing community we live in. July 4th commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence back in 1776—a bold step toward the freedoms we celebrate today.
And what’s more American than celebrating with family, friends… and maybe a sweet treat? If you’re out and about this week, swing by Louisville Dairy Creme for a scoop (or two)! Nothing says summer like enjoying your favorite flavor on a sunny July afternoon.
Happy 4th, Springfield! Stay safe, have fun, and let freedom ring!
Duck Race Winners Have Been Notified!
Our annual Duck Race was a big success! All the lucky winners have been called. One fun highlight: the person who won the room painting prize from Dylan Freese at PurePaints.org already reached out and told us they plan to hire him for more work after the prize job is done. A win-win for everyone! Big thanks to Dylan purepaints.org for donating such a generous prize.

A huge thank you again to all the generous prize donors.
We also want to thank everyone who bought tickets—your support helps the Friends of the Library continue doing great things for our community.

It Happen in Springfield
In 1922, according to state railway records, Sarpy County shipped more milk than any other county in Nebraska. Springfield held the record for shipping the most milk. Milk was transported on the Missouri Pacific railroad which ran through town. Mr. Wright operated Springfield’s creamery. The photo shows the depot agent, Mr. Geib (right), with Mr. Wright (left). Standing above is Mr. Ellis, the drayman, driver of the flatbed which transported the milk to be shipped.

Fit Tip of the Week – Balance Over the Holiday Weekend
Enjoy the BBQ, fireworks, and family time—but find little ways to stay active too! Take a morning walk, toss a football, go for a bike ride, or do a quick bodyweight workout before the festivities start.
--------------
Insurance Tip of the Week –Review Before Renewal
Before your policy renews, take a few minutes to review your coverages. Life changes—like home upgrades, new vehicles, or even adding a teen driver—can affect your insurance needs.
Tip: Call your agent (that’s me!) to make sure you’re fully covered and getting all available discounts. It’s quick, easy, and could save you money or a headache later.

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
