Welcom Back!

Hey Springfield,  the Springfield Memorial Library is finalizing the list of Lucky Duck and will begin calling soon. we want to give a big thank you to everyone who bought tickets. This fun tradition has been going strong for over 15 years, and your support helps keep it alive and thriving. We appreciate you!

A reminder — of some of the incredible prizes, including:

  • A 10x10 room painted by Dylan Frese (PurePaints.com)
  • A Springfield basket full of goodies from local shops
  • A chicken coop from Westlake
  • A family pass to Omaha’s Kiewit Luminarium
  • A SOZO Coffeehouse gift card
  • And many more!

This weekend, be sure to check out the Springfield Farmers Market. These events keep happening when our community shows up—so come by, enjoy some local goods, and help keep the fun going.

And don’t forget—the splash pad is open! Swing by the library for your Freezibees and keep working toward your reading goals.

Thanks for being a part of everything that makes Springfield special!

It Happen in Springfield

In June 1988, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, Boy Scout Troop 443 organized a car wash in the alley behind Springfield Country Market to raise funds. The scouts and their leaders expressed their gratitude to grocery store owner Roger Dinslage for allowing them to use the water faucets located at the back of
the store. Members of the Troop included Brian Devine, Matt Kehlenbeck, Adam Mensinger, Jared Miner, Justin Miner, Travis Wells, and Matt Wennstedt. Troop 443 Scoutmasters included:

Tim Prauner, Robin Roberts, and Steve Wells.

Fit Tip of the Week – Frisbee Golf = Fun + Fitness!!

Looking for a laid-back way to stay active? Frisbee Golf (Disc Golf) might be your perfect summer sport. It’s easy on the joints, fun for all ages, and it gets you walking, throwing, and laughing your way through the course.

Calories burned:
You can burn 200–400 calories per hour, depending on your pace and the terrain. That’s like a brisk walk—with a twist of friendly competition!

Bonus:

  • Boosts coordination
  • Low-impact movement
  • Great for families or groups
  • Springfield even has local courses to explore!

So grab a disc, call a friend, and hit the course. Fitness doesn't have to be boring—and Frisbee Golf proves it!

COME ON OVER!

This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity.  People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.

Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
