SARPY COUNTY OFFICES RESUMED FULL OPERATION

JUNE 15, 2020

Sarpy County offices resumed walk-in service starting Monday, June 15, while continuing to encourage the public to make appointments.

Walk-ins will be accepted for services at all Sarpy County offices.  Please be aware that walk-ins may experience longer wait times than usual. To avoid these longer wait times, we recommend scheduling an appointment for in-person services. You can make an appointment on Sarpy.com

Restrictions are easing up on social gatherings and businesses in Nebraska. Please be mindful of social distancing guidelines established by our local health department and local officials to keep our community safe.

The Springfield newsletter will continue to bring you news of announcements, important updates, fun tips, and maybe a joke or two just to lighten your day.

Check in for current information of up-to-the minute news. We will do what we can to make it through these times. Take care and hang in there everyone!

SARPY COUNTY HELP LINE

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office along with Sarpy County Human Services has established a help line for the citizens of Sarpy County during the COVID-19 pandemic event. Starting today, people who are sick, elderly, or caretakers of this demographic in Sarpy County may call the Sarpy County Sheriff Helpline at 402-593-1593 for needs such as picking up prescriptions, groceries, or other necessities. A uniformed Sarpy County Sheriff's Deputy will pick up and deliver these items in a marked police cruiser. This helpline may also be utilized by the general public to make non-emergency police reports via telephone that do not require a police officer present in their home.

The following providers are participating in this program:

Target in Papillion (Groceries Only)
Bakers at 36th St & Twin Creek Dr
Bakers at 801 Galvin Rd (Pharmacy Only)

IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD HISTORY

img309

The Springfield Woman’s Club was organized September 1903 with thirty members. The purpose of the group was to accept personal and group responsibility for the progress of the community. Music and singing were an integral part of all meetings in the early 1900’s. The group organized the town library in 1926. In the 1930’s the emphasis switched to drama and literature. The group sponsored drama workshops and an annual play. The Springfield Woman’s club was active in fundraising for many community projects throughout the years of its existence. In 1974, the group made the decision to assist the  in developing a new park on the southeast edge of town. Fundraisers by the Woman’s Club assisted with purchasing new equipment for Buffalo Park.

Funny Story

I asked the kids in my nursery school class what they needed in order to grow up nice and strong. One little girl answered, “Birthdays!” —Abigail George
