WELCOME BACK

Hey Springfield, It’s the last week of May, which means Springfield Days is approaching quickly! And you know what that means… we still need a little help selling those Lucky Duck tickets!

Funny story from the library meeting the other day — I heard the very first duck race was actually held in Mopac Creek from Platteview to Main Street, and it took HOURS for the ducks to finish. Safe to say we’re lucky they changed things up over the years! Now the ducks race right down Main Street during Springfield Days, and it’s become one of the most fun traditions in town.

The Friends of the Springfield Library hold this event as our #1 fundraiser of the year, and with the help of the SVFD, we’ll once again be racing 678 rubber ducks down Main Street in the annual Lucky Duck Race!

Springfield NOW

A few Springfield ladies stopped in for Crafty Tuesday at the Library! Kim Craney, Heather Weber, Kristy Zimmerman, and Rachel Brinkman enjoyed making Chocolate Mocktails at the library.

Now, the picture recipe said “YUM” — and honestly, the taste absolutely lived up to it! Our drinks may not have looked quite as fancy as the photo, but they tasted 100%! Cheers to good laughs, good company, and trying something new together at the library!

Insurance Tip of the Week- Know What Your Insurance Actually Covers

Tornado season is here—now is the time to understand what protection you really have in place. Don’t wait until after a storm to find out gaps in your coverage. Better yet—bring me your policy. I’ll review it with you, explain what you have, and see if we can improve your coverage and price at the same time. — Farmers Insurance

Fit Tip of the Week: What You Practice, You Become

May 27 — RESPECT THE PROCESS -

After a long weekend, just get back to the basics. No pressure, no perfection — just return to your routine and the small things that work.

Results take time. Strength comes from consistency, not intensity. Trust the process, even when progress feels slow or quiet.

Today’s focus: Squats, push-ups, and planks — 2–3 sets.Slow, controlled reps to reconnect with your form

Move with intention. Do the simple things well. That’s where progress lives.

Hydrate, fuel your body, and ease back into structure — one small step at a time.

Did You Know

Memorial Day originally began after the Civil War as a way for communities to honor soldiers who never made it home. One poem often shared during early Memorial Day observances was “Ode for Memorial Day,” which reminded Americans that the peace and freedoms we enjoy came at a great cost.

One line reads:
“Peace to the heroes who died in the battle…”

As Springfield Days approaches, it’s a good reminder to appreciate the traditions, neighbors, and community gatherings that make small towns special.
