Community Invited to Attend “Salute to Public Safety” Event on Sept. 8
First Responders to be Recognized for Their Dedication to Sarpy County
Papillion, Nebraska Sarpy County knows that its first responders and the teams that support their work are a shining example of how communities can come together to build positive relationships. It is in this spirit that on Sunday, Sept. 8, Sarpy County residents will join together to share this community pride in support of its first responders to thank them for their service.
Area residents are invited to participate in a “Salute to Public Safety” event at the Shadow Lake Hy-Vee, located at 11650 S. 73rd Street, in Papillion, Nebraska, at 7:30 a.m. Participants are invited to bring signs and flags to show their support as we rally around first responders from various Sarpy County communities.
Hy-Vee will provide a free breakfast to all on- and off-duty first responders, their spouses and children under 10 on Sept. 8 from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All Sarpy County metro area law enforcement, fire departments, corrections, EMS and 911 dispatchers are encouraged to attend. Reserved parking will be available for emergency vehicles.
A brief ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an opening prayer by Police/Fire Chaplain Jeff Kaiser, the National Anthem and a Presentation of Colors by American Legion Post #32. There will be remarks from area dignitaries, a moment of silence and a special memorial tribute for the Sept. 11 tragedy.
“September 8, 2019, will be a day where all can gather together in unity to pay tribute to the men and women who serve and protect Sarpy County communities and remember the pivotal time in history when Americans put their differences aside and came together in support of our country,” said former Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant and key organizer Russ Zeeb. “I look forward to a memorable event.”
Special thanks to the Shadow Lake Hy-Vee and Store Director Dan Fuller for helping host the event and recognizing the work of local first responders.
For additional information on this event, contact Russ Zeeb at 402-681-0929.
Congressman Don Bacon will be the Keynote speaker.

HELPFUL TIP:
Learner’s Permit Required
One of the most common questions we seem to receive is, “Do all students need a learner’s permit to take the driver safety school course?” If the student is going to be driving on the public roadways as part of the course, the easy answer is, ‘yes’. Almost all students can get a School Learning Permit.
