SPRINGFIELD LIBRARY FOUNDATION DISBANDS

The Springfield Library Foundation is disbanding as of December 19, 2014. Remaining funds in the account were given to the Springfield Community Foundation’s library fund. The funds will be matched by the Midlands Community Foundation.

Through twenty years of fundraising the foundation has built a new library which opened in 2001 and a 2,000 square foot addition which opened in 2012. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and donors which made this feat possible. A special thank you to all those who served on the foundation board of directors over the 20 years. We can now move forward with a modern and up to date facility that has become a show piece of our community.

In the future, donations can be made to the Springfield Community Foundation’s library fund. Once again thank you for your generous donation of time and money.

MIDLANDS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MATCHES GIFT TO

LOFTE THEATRE THROUGH JANUARY 5

The Lofte Community Theatre is excited to announce that they are participating in a fund-matching program with the Midlands Community Foundation.  For the month of December through January 5, 2015, all donations given to the Lofte Community Theatre in Manley will be matched up to $5,000 per donor by the Midlands Community Foundation.  Gifts above $5,000 will receive a pro-rated match from the organization.

The Midlands Community Foundation is focused on assisting with improving the quality of life in both Cass and Sarpy counties.  They have been working towards this goal since 1984 and since that time have awarded over $7 million in community grants.

Donations can be made to the Lofte through the ‘Donate Online’ button on their website, Lofte.com.  Donations may also be made by check or cash directly through the Lofte box office.  Those with questions may contact the Lofte box office at (402) 234-2553.

2015 SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLE CAMPS

Registration is now open for the 2015 Schoolhouse Fiddle Camps, in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, in Avoca, Nebraska. Deborah Greenblatt, championship fiddler, author of many fiddle collections, will help the campers get in touch with their inner fiddler. The course of study during the Schoolhouse Fiddle Camps will be designed specifically for the individual campers who sign up.

The June Camp (Monday, June 15 - Friday, June 19) is for folks who consider themselves beginners.  The July Camp (Monday, July 13 - Friday, July 17) is for folks who consider themselves intermediate or advanced.  Enrollment is limited to 10 fiddlers for each week, so that everyone will get individual attention.
