Haunted Victorian Ghost Walk

The Plattsmouth Conservancy Inc. is the host of the 2010 Haunted Victorian Ghost Walk. The event will be held in Plattsmouth on Friday, October 22, and Saturday, October 23, 2010. The walk will start at 7:30p.m. each evening and conclude at 10:00 p.m.

Step back in time and visit historical homes and buildings nestled within the haunted hills of Plattsmouth.

Follow the night watchman to each location to experience a chilling evening of frightful ghost stories from present day and years gone by.

Guests will travel by foot with lantern carriers to three historic homes and the historic Cass County Court House under the care of the night watchman. Along the way story tellers will tell true ghost stories from the local Plattsmouth area.

Guests will also have the opportunity to step inside the historic homes and courthouse and listen to Victorian Ghost Stories and Nebraska Ghost stories portrayed by a cast of actors in Victorian period attire.

Following the walking tour all guests are invited to meet at the Historic Plattsmouth Public Library for light refreshments and a viewing of the silent movie “Dracula”.

This is not your typical “Haunted House” event. There will be no skeletons popping out at you or giant spiders dropping down on you. But.. perhaps you will catch a glimpse of a ghostly spirit who chooses to make their presence known at this time of year when the veil between our world and the spirit world is most easily penetrated.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at “Antiques Off Main”, 125 South 5th Street, Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They can also be purchased through the mail by contacting Leigh Jean Koinzan at the contact information above. Advanced reservations are required.

To view a copy of the event flyer and pictures of the tour locations visit: www.plattsmouthconservancy.org.

PAID FOR IN PART BY CASS COUNTY TOURMISM AND THE NEBRASKA HUMANITIES COUNCIL.

Lofte cast of “Unnecessary Farce” front row – Anna Strobel, Joshua Smith, Kyle Lorenz, Anne Pope.  Back row – Kevin Holdorf, Dawn Holdorf, Ken Patry.

On October 15, the Lofte Community Theatre in Manley will continue its tradition of fast-paced comedy productions by opening Paul Slade’s hilarious “Unnecessary Farce.”

Written in 2002, the script is modern and very witty.  The story takes place in two adjoining hotel rooms.  In one room, two rookie cops prepare to bust their town’s mayor for embezzlement.  With the help of a love-starved woman accountant and a video camera, they set-up a sting in the adjoining room.  However, their simple plan soon goes haywire.  The accountant keeps taking off her clothes.  The mayor’s security guard is overly protective.  A mysterious Scottish hitman appears, but is brogue is so thick no one can understand his instructions.

The production is directed by Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water.  The colorful ensemble cast includes Kyle Lorenz of Lincoln, Anne Pope of Eagle, Anna Strobel and Ken Patry of Omaha, Kevin and Dawn Holdorf of Manley and Joshua Smith of La Vista.

Performance dates are October 15-17, 22-24 and 28-31.   Curtain times are 7:30pm on Thursday-Saturday and 2pm matinees on Sundays.  General admission tickets are $16.  Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte ticket office at (402) 234-2553.

The Lofte is located near the intersection of Hwy 1 and Hwy 50 near the town of Manley.  For driving directions and more information about the theater, please visit their website, www.Lofte.com.
